Jo Longhurst ‘Other Spaces’ at Ffotogallery

Jo Longhurst Other Spaces

In its last few weeks, Jo Longhurst’s Other Spaces is on at the Ffotogallery in Penarth. The artist has considered the aspect of art and performance, and now these two concepts compliment one and other in the gallery space. The performance we see explores the intense physical and emotional experience of sportsmen and women, in particular gymnasts in training.

Longhust somehow manages to weave in references to Russian Modernism, by referencing Rodchenko’s constructions. The experience of shape and movement take centre stage in this exhibition, which means it’s really is a show that must be seen to be understood.

If you’re looking for a longer review, read what Rory Duckhouse thought of Other Spaces.

The exhibition finishes on 26 January, so get down to Penarth to see it while you can.
