Classic meets contemporary in Angelin Preljocaj‘s Les Noces (1989). Based at the Millennium Centre, The National Dance Company Wales opened their doors to the public to give them a sneaky preview of the performance they’ll be touring next spring. This was a chance for the audience to share the experience of creative development, and to see what the dancers go through when rehearsing for a new show. With only a few weeks to learn the dance, Preljocaj’s assistant Claudia De Smet cracked the whip last Friday during the Open Rehearsal session…
…With many of the dancers being young, The National Dance Company Wales, has revitalized Preljocaj’s choreography. Even during the rehearsals, the dancers inject a youthful spirit into the dance which also manages to modernise Igor Stravinsky’s score.
